For to this end also did I write, that I might have proof from you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, of such a kind as is not so much as even named among the Gentiles: that one should have his father's wife.

For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears, not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly for you.

For we are not as many who corrupt the Word of God; but as out of sincerity, but as from God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Why so? Because I love you not? God knoweth!

Besides those things which are external, there is that which cometh upon me daily: the care for all the churches!

(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
