And if a man shall take his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing. He hath uncovered his brother's nakedness: they shall be childless.

"If brethren dwell together, and one of them die and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry outside unto a stranger; her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him for a wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother unto her.

For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.

For John said unto him, "It is not lawful for thee to have her."

saying, "Master, Moses said, `If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.'

For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and had bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.

"Master, Moses wrote unto us that if a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, then his brother should take his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.
