"Son of man, because Tyre hath said against Jerusalem, `Aha, she is broken that was the gates of the people; she is turned unto me; I shall be replenished, now she is laid waste,'

And at this house, which is high, every one who passeth by it shall be astonished and shall hiss; and they shall say, `Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land and to this house?'

to make their land desolate and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.

And I will make this city desolate and a hissing. Every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss, because of all the plagues thereof.

All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, "Is this the city that men call `The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth'?"

This is the rejoicing city that dwelt without care, that said in her heart, "I am, and there is none besides me." How she has become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! Every one that passeth by her shall hiss and wag his hand.

And I will make thee like the top of a rock; thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon. Thou shalt be built no more; for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more. Though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD."

For yet a little while and the wicked shall not be; yea, thou shalt diligently look for his place, and it shall not be.

Yet he passed away, and lo, he was no more; yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
