for I know thy rebellion and thy stiff neck. Behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD. And how much more after my death?

For I know this: that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Also from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them.

Moreover I will endeavor that you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

Therefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab; for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

With her much fair speech she caused him to yield; with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

until a dart strike through his liver, as a bird hasteneth to the snare and knoweth not that it is for his life.

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honor to a fool.

A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it, and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

A man that flattereth his neighbor spreadeth a net for his feet.

And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries; but the people who do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants will be wicked.
