He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the LORD, that he might fulfill the word of the LORD which He spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

"Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned My wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for My sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in My jealousy.

And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.'"

And I will raise Me up a faithful priest who shall do according to that which is in Mine heart and in My mind; and I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before Mine anointed for ever.

Eleazar begot Phinehas, begot Abishua,

and Uzzi begot Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begot Meraioth,

and Ahitub begot Zadok, and Zadok begot Ahimaaz,

and Johanan begot Azariah (he it was who executed the priest's office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem),

and Ahitub begot Zadok, and Zadok begot Shallum,

and Azariah begot Seraiah, and Seraiah begot Jehozadak;

And these are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,

Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,

And David assigned them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.

Let his days be few, and let another take his office.

For it is written in the book of Psalms: `Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein'; and, `His bishopric let another take.'
