Go and get thee in unto King David and say unto him, `Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, "Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne"? Why then doth Adonijah reign?'

Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; He will not turn from it: "Of the fruit of thy body I will set upon thy throne.

And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them, and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
