Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brethren; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

"Take thou also unto thee principal spices: of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half as much (even two hundred and fifty shekels), and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,

And thou shalt make from it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound according to the art of the perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil.

and the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense,

and thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy. Whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.

And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, `This shall be a holy anointing oil unto Me throughout your generations.

Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.'"

I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him.

And they ate and drank before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon, the son of David, king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.

For he has gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king's sons and the captains of the host and Abiathar the priest; and behold, they eat and drink before him and say, `God save King Adonijah!'

And Samuel said to all the people, "See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people?" And all the people shouted and said, "God save the king!"

And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king and anointed him. And they clapped their hands and said, "God save the king!"

Then they brought out the king's son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, "God save the king."

And she looked, and behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entrance, and the princes and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of music, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes and said, "Treason! Treason!"
