Now it came to pass as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, "Lo, I dwell in a house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains."

And it came to pass the same night that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto My servant David, `Thus saith the LORD of hosts: I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over My people Israel.

Also I will ordain a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning

And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, who shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

I will be his Father, and he shall be My son; and I will not take My mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee.

According to all these words and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

The king spoke and said, "Is not this great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom, by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?"

And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that He swore unto their fathers. And there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

And it came to pass, a long time after the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.

But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.

And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest; and he had no war in those years, because the LORD had given him rest.

I will love Thee, O LORD, my strength.

When man's ways please the LORD, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

that He would grant unto us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear,

in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
