And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand; and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, "This came out first."

And afterward came out his brother who had the scarlet thread upon his hand, and his name was called Zerah.

He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God.

And he said, "Is not he rightly named Jacob [that is, A supplanter]? For he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright, and behold, now he hath taken away my blessing." And he said, "Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?"
