The Sabbath

Should not Protestants accept this change of Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday for the sake of peace and unity?

Dear Reader,

This is a very excellent question. I believe the answer to this question will show where our loyalties are-either with God's Word or with man's commands. Most Protestants accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Other writings may also be divinely inspired, but the Bible is the only Book that is to judge all other writings. If other churches' writings contradict the Bible what must the person do? Let us turn to the Bible. Isa 8:20 (KJV) To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, (it is) because (there is) no light in them. This passage tells us that if anyone commands or institutes anything that is contrary to Scripture then that command or institution is to be rejected. And why should this be? Here again the Bible: Acts 5:29 (KJV) Then Peter and the (other) apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. This text tells us that whenever there is conflict with man's commands or institutions against God's, then the individual is to obey God first rather than man. Why is this? Let's turn to John 14:6. This text says, I (Jesus) am the way, the truth, and the life. And again we read: Jer. 10:23 0 LORD I know that the way of man (is) not in himself: (it is) not in man that walketh to direct his steps. The Bible tells us that man does not know how to properly set moral rules and regulations for himself and his society. It is only through Christ that this can be done. And we find Christ through the Bible. Here is what it says: Psalm 119:105 (KJV) Thy word (is) a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. So then, in order for mankind to live peacefully and spiritually together he has to let the Bible be his guide first and foremost. God's word cannot err, God's will for man is the only remedy for man's sinfulness. And His will is found in the wonderful Bible. Should any other source replace the Bible then mankind will have problems. And this is exactly what we are experiencing today in our world-crime, vice, wickedness because man has replaced the Bible with his own ideas and philosophy. Let us be true to God and his Word. God bless.
